How to use mismo in Spanish – Uses and examples

What are the uses of “mismo“? 

➡️ It functions as an adjective between the article or determiner and the noun it modifies. 

Examples:

➡️ It is used to indicate identity 

Examples:

Ella es la misma chica que trabajó conmigo en la empresa. She is the same girl who worked with me at the company.
Me dí cuenta que él era el mismo actor de la película “Los puentes de Madison”.I noticed that he was the same actor from the movie “The Bridges of Madison”.

➡️ To indicate equality or similarity of things or people. 

Examples:

Todos tuvimos el mismo examen.We all had the same exam.
Tuvimos el  mismo profesor en la universidad.  We had the same professor at the university.  

➡️ As part of a comparative sentence. 

Examples:

Continuaremos con los mismos libros que el año pasado. We will continue with the same books as last year. 

➡️ Can be used for emphasis in these two forms: mismísimo / mismito.
